Alibaba Looks to Pakistani, Other Asian Suppliers to Maintain Market Dominance
Alibaba.com is strengthening its global supply network and is confident in securing potentially bigger supply routes from Pakistan and other Asian countries as it aims to sustain 30 percent growth in US wholesale operations despite trade uncertainties in the region. The company’s president, Kuo Zhang, told Bloomberg that Alibaba.com’s diverse supplier base—spanning China, Southeast Asia, India, Pakistan, and Europe—provides resilience against shifting trade policies and tariffs. Speaking to Bloomberg TV, Zhang highlighted the platform’s AI-driven sourcing tool Accio which enhances efficiency by better matching buyers and suppliers. He noted that more than 100,000 sellers are already utilizing Alibaba.com’s AI-powered tools, with over a million buyers engaging with the platform’s AI-driven search features since November. Despite concerns over inflation and deflationary trends in China, Zhang stated that global interest in Alibaba.com has surged, with searches for the platform rising by 118 percent since the start of the year. He attributed this growth to increasing demand for digital trade and technological advancements that lower barriers for small and medium-sized businesses to enter global markets. Zhang reaffirmed Alibaba.com’s commitment to expansion in the US, noting that the company continues to work with tech partners like Google while also investing in global supply chains to ensure stability in international trade.
