The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has officially issued the finalized income tax return forms for the tax year 2025, ending weeks of uncertainty for taxpayers.
Through SRO 1561(I)/2025 and SRO 1562(I)/2025, the Board has introduced simplified e-return forms for individuals, salaried employees, Associations of Persons (AOPs), companies, and business professionals. The move aims to make filing more straightforward and transparent for filers nationwide.
The finalized forms come 40 days after the FBR first published draft versions on July 7, 2025.
Controversy arose, however, when the IRIS portal was opened for return submissions shortly after the draft release, leaving many to wonder whether returns filed during this “draft phase” will remain valid or must be resubmitted under the new forms.
