The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has officially rolled out a digital invoicing system for all sales tax-registered taxpayers, which should help with automation and transparency in tax reporting.
According to FBR, corporate taxpayers are being integrated with the system on a priority basis. Businesses can connect their invoicing systems with FBR through licensed integrators, while the Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) is offering free integration services.
Once connected, the system will automatically generate a digital invoice featuring a QR code and a unique identification number. Both the supplier and the buyer will have instant access to these invoices through a dedicated digital portal.
FBR said the system has been introduced to ensure accurate data reporting and transparency, while also reducing manual effort. The new taxpayer Business Intelligence (BI) dashboard provides a comprehensive record of invoices, including their number, type, and value.
Taxpayers will also be able to load approved invoices into their tax periods with a single click. FBR added that the digital invoicing system will save time, cost, and effort, while modernizing tax compliance in Pakistan.
