The Federal Board of Revenue has established two new check posts to inspect vehicles transporting goods from the tax-exempt regions of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The move aims to tighten monitoring of supplies entering the taxable territory and ensure that proper documentation accompanies all consignments.
According to an FBR notification, the new posts have been set up at two key entry points. One check post is located at Kohala Bridge on the route running from Muzaffarabad toward Murree and Abbottabad.
The second has been established at Nakoder on the Dina Mangla Road near Mirpur, facing Jhelum Road.
The notification, S.R.O. 2185(1)/2025, states that the check posts have been created under rule 69F of the Sales Tax Rules 2006 and section 40D of the Sales Tax Act 1990.
Officials said the purpose is to examine both goods and documents to verify compliance with tax laws when supplies originate from exempt zones.
Vehicles travelling from these areas must now carry valid documents for the goods they transport.
The FBR has authorised regional tax offices to set up and supervise these check posts, with Inland Revenue inspectors empowered to stop vehicles, inspect goods, and review paperwork.
The authority noted that these measures are designed to prevent misuse of tax exemptions and improve oversight of the supply chain.
