FBR Takes Action Against Wedding Halls for Failing to Collect Taxes from Customers
The Regional Tax Office 1 (RTO-1) Karachi of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has initiated action against four marriage halls for failing to collect taxes under Section 236CB of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001. These wedding halls had repeatedly been directed to collect taxes from customers and deposit the amounts into the national treasury but didn’t comply. Sources said the crackdown aims to expand the tax net and enforce compliance with tax laws. Authorities have warned that continued non-compliance could lead to stricter actions, including legal proceedings and sealing of the premises. FBR has reiterated its directive to all marriage hall owners to understand the importance of tax collection in strengthening the national treasury and encouraging a culture of adhering to tax laws.
