The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle Lahore has registered FIR against two officials of Customs including inspector Khalid Pervaiz Bhutta and Muhammad Yousaf, Ex-Superintendent Customs on allegations of Rs. 141 million foreign currencies theft in the Customs’ State warehouse Lahore.
According to FIR, the foreign currencies were stolen from Customs state warehouse during 2012 to 2019 and local Police PS Anarkali Lahore also registered FIR on the complaint of Customs Lahore.
However, the said investigation was transferred to FIA Lahore on August 1, 2020.
According to the FIR, the accused inspector Customs Khalid Pervaiz took the charge of state warehouse customs Lahore including valuable Godown in 2019.
The FIA investigation team has recovered Rs. 2.3 million from accused Khalid Pervaiz which includes Rs. 0.3 million which was recovered on information from the accused while a bank draft having value of Rs. 3 million in favor of Customs Lahore was also traced during the investigation.
It was disclosed that the stock taking of valuable godown of state warehouse Customs Lahore was conducted for the first time in 2018 and Pakistan Customs have also kept confiscated currency in valuable godown of state warehouse Customs Lahore rather than depositing in State bank Treasury.
According to information the accused persons got pre arrest bail from the competent court of jurisdiction in local police. The case is under trial in the Court of Special Judge Central-III, Lahore and the next date of hearing is later this month.
