Gold Price in Pakistan Surges for Third Straight Day as International Prices Climb

The price of gold in Pakistan posted its third straight increase this week on Friday. According to data issued by the Karachi Sarafa Association, the price of gold (24 carats) rose by Rs. 1,100 per tola to Rs. 244,400, while the price of 10 grams went up by Rs. 944 to Rs. 209,534. The Sarafa Association said that the price of gold has been kept under cost by Rs. 3,000 due to the reduction in purchasing power of the buyers. The price of the precious metal in the market has risen by Rs. 2,900 per tola in the last three days, which included hikes of Rs. 800 per tola on Wednesday and Rs. 1,000 per tola on Thursday. In the international market, spot gold was up 0.4 percent to $2,364.87 per ounce as of 0941 GMT, while the US gold futures were up 0.2 percent to $2,372.90.
