Update: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reportedly intervened following a protest by government employees outside the parliament house and increased the federal government employees’ salaries by 10%, instead of the previously approved 6% in the budget 2025-26.
The federal cabinet on Tuesday approved an increase in the salaries and pensions in the upcoming budget for the fiscal year 2025-26.
As per the details, serving government employees will receive a 6 percent raise in their monthly salaries.
Retired employees will also benefit from the budget announcement, with a 7 percent hike in their monthly pensions.
