The federal government has set the development budget for the next fiscal year (2025–26) at Rs. 1,000 billion, according to official documents seen by ProPakistani.
Of the total allocation, more than Rs. 662 billion will go toward development projects initiated by various federal ministries and divisions. The National Highway Authority (NHA) will receive the largest share among these, with an allocation of Rs. 228 billion.
The Power Division has been earmarked Rs. 104 billion, while Rs. 140 billion will be directed to the Water Resources Division, as per details from the Planning Commission.
The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) is set to receive Rs. 24 billion. The Cabinet Division has been allocated Rs. 50.33 billion.
A total of Rs. 245 billion has been reserved for provinces and special areas, including Rs. 93.44 billion for provincial projects. The merged districts are proposed to receive over Rs. 70 billion, while Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to receive Rs. 82 billion collectively.
In the education sector, Rs. 42 billion has been proposed for the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for development purposes, alongside Rs. 19 billion for the Federal Education and Professional Training Division. The Defence Division has been allocated Rs. 11 billion.
The Railway Division will receive Rs. 24 billion, and the Ministry of Planning and Development has been earmarked Rs. 12 billion. The National Health Services Ministry is also set to receive Rs. 12 billion for development.
The Ministry of Interior will be allocated Rs. 10.9 billion, while the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is set to receive Rs. 4.33 billion.
