Govt Commences Closure of Pak PWD

The closure of Pakistan Public Works Department (PWD) has officially started following directives issued by the Prime Minister’s Office last month. Key properties including the Federal Lodges under Pak PWD have been transferred to the Estate Office. Qasr-e-Naz in Karachi and Chamba House in Lahore, along with Federal Lodges in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and Peshawar, are now under the jurisdiction of the Estate Office. Meanwhile, the staff associated with these properties have also been transferred to the Estate Office. An official notification has been issued by the Federal Ministry of Housing to formalize these changes. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on June 3 directed for the immediate dissolution of the Pak PWD due to years-long poor performance and corruption.
