The government has decided to introduce a relief package aimed at reducing electricity tariffs for the industrial and agricultural sectors, according to sources.
Sources told ProPakistani that electricity prices are expected to drop by more than Rs. 10 per unit under the proposed plan. The three-year relief package will offer discounted rates for additional electricity consumption to promote higher usage and production efficiency.
The package is scheduled to take effect from November 1, 2025, and will remain in force until October 31, 2028. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to formally announce the initiative on Thursday, sources added.
The government’s objective is to lower production costs and boost exports by easing the energy burden on businesses. Officials consider the reduction in power tariffs a crucial step toward stimulating economic activity and enhancing industrial competitiveness.
According to sources, the relief package is expected to strengthen the competitiveness of the country’s industrial sector and support sustainable economic growth.
