The federal government has finalized a strategy to implement the Prime Minister’s Ramazan Package which will provide a Rs. 10 billion subsidy on essential items.
The initiative will benefit 16 million people including 15 million registered beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) and an additional 1 million ordinary citizens. Compared to last year, 1.2 million more citizens will receive support.
To facilitate access, 800 mobile Utility Stores and 300 flour sale points will be established nationwide which will be operational throughout Ramadan. A dedicated mobile application has been developed to help users locate these outlets. Verification will be conducted through BISP and NADRA.
A strict monitoring system will be implemented including live-streaming cameras at all utility stores and a central monitoring cell at the Utility Stores Corporation head office.
The Ministry of Industries and Production will set up its own monitoring cell, and ten toll-free complaint lines will be available for addressing public complaints.
