Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday chaired a review meeting on the Public Private Partnership Authority’s progress, with a focus on the deployment of technical experts in federal ministries and the government’s strategy to attract foreign investment.
The Authority informed the Prime Minister that 30 candidates have been shortlisted for the posts of Chief Executive Officers, Chief Financial Officers, and Managing Directors in seven key ministries and departments.
Initial interviews for appointments in the Petroleum Division and the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission have already been conducted.
According to the briefing, 15 technical experts have been deployed so far, while the process for appointing experts on 47 additional posts is ongoing. The Prime Minister emphasized that institutional reforms, digitization of the economy, and right-sizing of federal institutions remain among the government’s top priorities. He added that no compromise will be tolerated on merit and transparency in the appointment of experts.
The meeting was also informed that federal ministries have nominated focal teams to develop investment strategies. Sectoral action plans for information technology, telecom, railways, and tourism have already been prepared, while work on frameworks for food security, maritime affairs, minerals, housing, energy, and tourism is in the final stages.
