The government has deployed Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials to monitor the sugar supply from the warehouses of sugar mills.
Officials from the Ministry of National Food Security stated that the names of owners of 18 sugar mills, along with other individuals, have been placed on the Exit Control List (ECL). The list of those added to the ECL will be made public in the coming days.
According to officials, 1.9 million metric tons of sugar, previously held by sugar mills, is now under government control. This decision was made in light of fears of artificial shortages and further price hikes.
