K-Electric Likely to Reduce Electricity Price By Rs. 4.69 Per Unit
K-Electric has requested the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to approve a Rs. 4.69 per unit cut in electricity tariffs for its consumers under fuel cost adjustment for April 2025. The regulator is scheduled to hear the utility’s request today. If approved, the reduction would translate into a relief of Rs. 7.17 billion for K-Electric customers. The proposed cut is based on lower fuel prices during April and forms part of the routine monthly fuel charge adjustment mechanism. This comes after NEPRA earlier issued its decision on K-Electric’s (KE) write-off petition, allowing partial claims of Rs. 50 billion against the company’s claims worth Rs. 76 billion pertaining to the Multi-Year Tariff (MYT) control period spanning FY17 – FY23.
