The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has suspended the membership of 119 members of National/Provincial Assemblies and Senators who didn’t submit their annual financial returns by the January 15 deadline.
Sources told ProPakistani that this suspension bars the affected lawmakers from participating in any legislative proceedings until they file their tax returns.
The suspended individuals include members of the National Assembly, Provincial Assemblies, and the Senate. The ECP has also warned that any member found providing false information in their returns will face strict action.
The submission of financial returns is a mandatory requirement for public representatives to ensure transparency and accountability.
