The Ministry of IT & Telecom and the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) hosted a landmark event, Building Tomorrow, to announce the launch of Prime Minister’s SkillTech Pakistan, a transformative new platform for digital skills development and capacity building.
The program focuses on opportunity, empowerment, and enabling young Pakistanis to showcase their talent in globally recognized technology fields such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and others.
The announcement was made by Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, who said: “The Prime Minister’s SkillTech Pakistan platform will introduce six flagship programs designed to equip Pakistan’s youth with globally competitive skills, while supporting tech companies in achieving international compliance by strengthening industry linkages. This platform reflects our commitment to building a future-ready workforce and positioning the country as a premier global tech destination.”
She also paid tribute to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and his vision of building a Digital Nation Pakistan. She remarked: “We have already trained more than 3 million Pakistanis through our DigiSkills initiative, leading to record IT exports of $691 million between July and August 2025. This initiative takes us a step closer to realizing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of positioning Pakistan as a key player in the global digital economy.”
PSEB CEO Abu Bakr added, “The Prime Minister’s SkillTech Pakistan program is about making our youth employable, competitive, and confident in the global marketplace. We have ambitious plans and aim to train more than 2.1 million Pakistanis within the next three years. This is our roadmap for positioning Pakistan as the region’s digital hub, by empowering students and enabling the industry.”
SkillTech Pakistan includes a wide range of initiatives. Skill Bridge, one of the flagship domains, will connect ICT graduates with employers through paid internships and apprenticeships to bridge the academia-industry gap. Certified to Export (C2X) will help IT firms secure international certifications such as ISO and GDPR compliance. Meanwhile, Skilllift 1.0 bootcamps will provide advanced training in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, web development, mobile applications, and software quality assurance.
