The Pakistan Public Works Department (Pak PWD) has recommended a significant increase of 60-125 percent in the rental ceilings for federal employees based on employee grades.
Pak PWD wants the government to address rising market rental rates and provide federal employees with higher housing allowances.
For employees in Grades 1 to 6, the highest adjustment of 125 percent has been proposed.
In Islamabad, the ceiling for Grades 1-2 has been proposed to increase from Rs. 7,029 to Rs. 15,815, while for Rawalpindi, it is suggested to increase from Rs. 6,591 to Rs. 14,830.
For Grades 3-6, Islamabad’s ceiling could rise from Rs. 10,980 to Rs. 24,705, and Rawalpindi’s from Rs. 9,654 to Rs. 21,722.
Employees in Grades 7-10 may see a 100 percent increase, with Islamabad’s ceiling increasing from Rs. 16,403 to Rs. 32,804, and Rawalpindi’s from Rs. 14,682 to Rs. 29,364.
For Grades 11-22, a uniform 60 percent hike is proposed. Grade 11-13 employees could see rent ceilings in Islamabad increase from Rs. 24,744 to Rs. 39,590 and in Rawalpindi from Rs. 21,462 to Rs. 34,339.
Grade 22 employees in Islamabad may have their ceiling rise from Rs. 98,444 to Rs. 157,510, while for Rawalpindi, it could go from Rs. 98,444 to Rs. 142,768.
