Pakistan Allows 150 Afghan Trucks to Enter India Via Wagah Border

Pakistan allowed 150 Afghan trucks to enter India via the Wagah Border on Thursday. The decision was confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement. According to Dawn, the Afghan embassy in Islamabad had requested clearance for stranded containers on April 28. In response, Pakistan approved transit for trucks that had entered before April 25. A list of 150 trucks provided by the Afghan embassy has been forwarded to the relevant authorities. Islamabad had suspended all trade with India, including transit trade, on April 24 following a National Security Committee meeting. This happened in response to New Delhi’s claims linking Pakistan to a deadly attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir. Trade between Pakistan and India had already been frozen since February 2019, after New Delhi imposed tariffs on Pakistani goods following the Pulwama attack. In August 2019, Pakistan formally canceled all trade activities after India revoked Article 370 and stripped Kashmir of its special status.
