Pakistan’s annual inflation clocked in at a historic low of 0.3 percent on a year-on-year basis in April 2025, according to data issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Friday.
It is pertinent to mention here that in May 2023, Pakistan’s annual inflation hit a record high of 37.97 percent, marking the highest level in the country’s history.
CPI inflation General, decreased to 0.3 percent on year-on-year basis in April 2025 as compared to 0.7 percent of the previous month and 17.3 percent in April 2024. On month-on-month basis, it decreased by 0.8 percent in April 2025 as compared to an increase of 0.9 percent in the previous month and a decrease of 0.4 percent in April 2024.
The average inflation for 10MFY25 came down to 4.73 percent, much lower than the 25.97 percent recorded during the same period last year.
CPI inflation Urban, decreased to 0.5 percent on year-on-year basis in April 2025 as compared to 1.2 percent of the previous month and 19.4 percent in April 2024. On month-on-month basis, it decreased by 0.7 percent in April 2025 as compared to an increase of 0.8 percent in the previous and a decrease of 0.1 percent in April 2024.
CPI inflation Rural, decreased by 0.1 on year-on-year basis in April 2025 as compared to no change measured in the previous month and 14.5 percent in April 2024. On month-on-month basis, it decreased by 1.0 percent in April 2025 as compared to an increase of 1.1 percent in the previous month and a decrease of 0.9 percent in April 2024.
SPI inflation on YoY decreased by 3.2 percent in April 2025 as compared to decrease of 2.3 percent a month earlier and 21.6 percent in April 2024. On MoM basis, it decreased by 1.7 percent in April 2025 as compared to a decrease of 0.1 percent a month earlier and a decrease of 0.7 percent in April 2024.
WPI inflation on YoY basis decreased by 2.2 percent in April 2025 as compared to a decrease of 1.6 percent a month earlier and an increase of 13.9 percent in April 2024. On MoM basis, it decreased by 1.3 percent in April 2025 as compared to an increase of 0.3 percent in the previous month and a decrease of 0.7 percent of the corresponding month of last year i.e. April 2024.
Measured by non-food non-energy Urban decreased to 7.4 percent on (YoY) basis in April 2025 as compared to 8.2 percent of the previous month and an increase of 13.1 percent in April 2024. On (MoM) basis, it increased by 1.3 percent in April 2025 as compared to 0.5 percent measured in the previous month and an increase of 2.1 percent in corresponding month of last year i.e. April, 2024.
Measured by non-food non-energy Rural decreased to 9.0 percent on (YoY) basis in April 2025 as compared to 10.2 percent of the previous month and an increase of 19.3 percent in April 2024. On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.9 percent in April 2025 as compared to an increase of 0.7 percent measured in the previous month and an increase of 2.0 percent in corresponding month of last year i.e. April 2024.
