Pakistan to Prepare Strategy to Counter Trump Tariffs

In response to the United States’ decision to impose a 29 percent tariff on Pakistani goods, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan chaired a high-level meeting to discuss the potential impact and formulate a strategic response. Sources indicate that the imposed tariffs are not expected to significantly affect Pakistan’s textile exports. However, the Ministry of Commerce is developing a comprehensive strategy to mitigate any potential adverse effects. The ministry has sought proposals from stakeholders and exporters to address the challenges posed by the US tariffs. Khan has directed ministry officials to collaborate with exporters in developing effective strategies. The minister emphasized the need to take proactive measures to ensure continued access for Pakistani products to the US market. The minister directed that value addition to textile products should be improved. Exporters will present proposals to increase exports in the next meeting.
