Pakistan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs said on Friday that its official X (formerly Twitter) account had been hacked after a post was published appealing for international financial assistance amid rising tensions with India.
The ministry clarified that it did not issue the post and was working to have the account suspended to prevent further unauthorized activity.
“We are working to have the Twitter (X) switched off,” an official told Reuters, adding, “We did not tweet the content in question.”
A spokesperson for the ministry further stated, “The account of the Ministry of Economic Affairs on social media platform X was hacked late last night. Any post currently appearing on the account is not connected to the ministry.”
