The government has decided to set up the first Command and Control Center in Islamabad under the “Smart Islamabad” initiative. The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) announced that the project will be executed as a pilot program, introducing a government-level fusion center to streamline urban services.
According to official documents, the fusion center will provide citizens access to all essential services and bring together officers from relevant departments under one roof. The center aims to integrate real-time data from various sectors, ensuring effective coordination and decision-making at the city level.
The initiative will enable smart traffic management, air quality monitoring, waste management, and transport regulation in the capital. To support these functions, additional smart devices and sensors will be deployed across Islamabad. Authorities confirmed that the system will rely on a robust real-time data integration and command platform.
The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs. 708.385 million, with the Planning Division already approving Rs. 250 million for the initial phase. In its first stage, the project will establish the Command and Control Center along with the necessary software and human resources required to operate the system.
Officials stated that the broader goal of the initiative is to develop an AI-powered platform and create a national replication blueprint. This will not only enhance urban management in Islamabad but also provide a model that can be extended to other cities across Pakistan in the future.
