Pakistan’s Mobile Phone Imports Down by 14% in 10 Months
Mobile phone imports into Pakistan declined by 14.21 percent during the first ten months of the current fiscal year (July–April 2024–25), according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). The country imported mobile phones worth $1.254 billion between July and April, compared to $1.462 billion during the same period last year. On a year-on-year basis, April 2025 saw a sharper decline, with mobile phone imports falling by 22.47 percent to $125.119 million, down from $161.384 million in April 2024. Month-on-month, imports slipped 3.96 percent from $130.274 million in March 2025. In contrast, Pakistan’s overall merchandise trade showed positive momentum. Exports during July–April 2025 rose by 6.40 percent, reaching $26.896 billion, compared to $25.278 billion in the corresponding period of FY24. Meanwhile, total imports during the same period grew by 7.55 percent, amounting to $48.292 billion, up from $44.9 billion last year. This shows increased demand for a broader range of goods across the economy.
