PM Office Directs Ministries to Send All Summaries Through Designated Advisors

The Prime Minister’s Office has directed all federal ministries and divisions to route their official summaries through a designated advisor as part of a newly implemented procedure for obtaining the Prime Minister’s orders. According to an office memorandum issued by the Cabinet Division on March 20, 2025, all Federal Secretaries and authorized officers must now submit summaries, notes, papers, and other correspondence via Dr. Syed Tauqir Hussain Shah, Advisor to the Prime Minister on matters related to the Prime Minister’s Office. The directive, detailed in memorandum No. 7/2/2025-Min-I, applies to all ministries, divisions, attached departments, and agencies under the Federal Government. It mandates a single channel for communication intended for the Prime Minister, aiming to streamline the flow of information, improve efficiency, and ensure uniformity across federal institutions. This centralized route is intended to bring clarity and coordination to the administrative process at the highest level. In response to the Cabinet Division’s directive, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) issued a letter dated April 8, 2025, instructing all its affiliated organizations to strictly adhere to the new procedure. The letter, signed by Section Officer Coordination Amjad Alam Sher Malik, was circulated among the heads of 16 key scientific institutions, including PCSIR, PSF, PEC, COMSATS University, NUST, NUTECH, PNAC, PSQCA, PCRET, NMIP, and others located in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore. The move signals a broader effort by the federal government to introduce administrative discipline and improve traceability of summaries and correspondence involving the Prime Minister’s attention. By routing communication through a designated official, the government expects enhanced accountability, reduced duplication, and better record-keeping within the Prime Minister’s Office and the departments interacting with it.
