Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Power Division to prepare a comprehensive reform package aimed at ensuring the productive use of electricity to boost industrial and agricultural output.
Chairing a high-level review meeting in Islamabad, the Prime Minister said that facilitating manufacturers, investors, and farmers is among the government’s top priorities.
He instructed the Power Division to finalize effective and practical policy recommendations to support sustainable industrial growth and improve energy utilization.
Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that electricity generation should be maximized and channeled toward production rather than wastage, adding that better energy management can directly enhance exports, industrial productivity, and crop yields.
Officials from the Power Division briefed the Prime Minister on the proposed reform and efficiency package, which focuses on improving electricity supply to industries and reducing wastage in the national grid.
The meeting also reviewed recommendations to ensure reliable power for manufacturers and investors and to facilitate the agriculture sector through affordable energy solutions.
The session was attended by Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Leghari, Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema, Advisor on Industry Haroon Akhtar, and other senior government officials.
The Prime Minister stressed that increasing power generation alone is not enough, its efficient use is essential for economic revival and job creation.
