Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved the elevation of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to the status of a Division.
Following this approval, the Cabinet issued a memo officially declaring SIFC as a division. The Rules of Business 1973 have been updated to reflect this change and include instructions for amending the SIFC Division accordingly.
SIFC was formed in June 2023 in a bid to attract foreign investment and frame economic policies. So far, the council has yet to do anything definitive to help the economy prosper.
