Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a 20-member committee to improve government efficiency and address bureaucratic redundancies.
The committee will be led by the PM’s No.2 Ishaq Dar and is tasked with enabling inter-departmental collaboration and evidence-based policymaking to address the problem, reported Express Tribune.
Key objectives are assessing the Federal Secretariat’s performance, identifying inefficiencies, and proposing modern governance practices.
The committee is also expected to recommend performance-linked incentives, modernization of the e-office system into a robust Management Information System, and re-engineering of the Secretariat Instructions 2004 to enhance transparency and accountability.
The committee’s report is due within a month.
