Proposals for a 50% increase in government salaries and a 100% increase in pensions have been submitted to President Asif Ali Zardari ahead of Pakistan’s federal budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year.
According to reports, the federal budget will be presented on June 10, immediately after the Eid holidays. The budget is currently being finalized, with input from various stakeholders.
During a meeting with President Zardari, Chaudhry Manzoor, in-charge of the People’s Labor Bureau and a member of the PPP Central Executive Committee, called for at least a 50% salary increase for government employees. He also proposed merging ad hoc relief with basic salaries, ending recent pension reforms, setting a minimum monthly wage of Rs 50,000 for workers, and doubling the EOBI pension.
President Zardari expressed hope that the federal government would prioritize the welfare of workers and government employees in the upcoming budget, emphasizing the PPP’s commitment to supporting the working class.
