PSX Suffers Worst Ever Crash as KSE-100 Index Loses 6,500 Points After Border Tensions Escalate

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed its worst ever day in history on Thursday as the benchmark KSE-100 index plummeted by almost 6,500 points. Pakistan’s armed forces have taken down 25 Israeli-made drones that have been sent to the country since last night, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said today. “The Pakistan Army is giving a befitting reply to the enemy and crushing all its nefarious designs. The Pakistan Army is fully capable of countering any kind of aggression and defending the nation,” the military said. Massive selling pressure saw the KSE-100 index lose 6,482 points to close at 103,527 points, down 6.26 percent over the previous closing. This was KSE-100 index’s biggest ever single-day decline (in terms of points), eclipsing the crash on December 19, 2024, when the KSE-100 index went down by 4,795 points. A total of 651,894,137 shares were traded during the day as compared to 550,076,224 shares the previous trading day, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs. 35.4 billion against Rs. 30.12 billion on the last trading day. As many as 450 companies transacted their shares in the stock market, 35 of them recorded gains and 373 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 42 companies remained unchanged.
