RDA Denies Approving ‘New Airport Town’ Housing Scheme

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has rejected the layout plan submission for the “New Airport Town” housing scheme, branding it illegal and unapproved. According to an RDA spokesperson, the file submitted by Shahid Mehmood, the scheme’s owner, was returned after a thorough review by the Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate. Located in Mouza Katarian, Tehsil, and District Rawalpindi, the unauthorized housing scheme was flagged by the RDA, cautioning citizens against investing in plots there. The spokesperson stated that the RDA, under the leadership of DG Kinza Murtaza, is prepared to take stringent legal actions against violators of the law. The developers of “New Airport Town” have been accused of unlawfully advertising and selling plots without the required RDA approval, a violation of Rule 46(1) of the Punjab Development Authorities Private Housing Scheme Rules-2021.
