Remittances Sent by Overseas Pakistanis Clock In at $3.2 Billion in September 2025
Pakistan received $3.2 billion in overseas workers’ remittances in September 2025, according to data released Thursday by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The figure marks an 11.3% increase compared to the $2.9 billion recorded in the same month last year, and a 1% rise from August’s $3.1 billion. Cumulatively, remittance inflows during the first quarter of the current fiscal year (July–September FY26) reached $9.5 billion, up 8.4% from $8.8 billion in the same period of FY25. Remittances remain a critical source of foreign exchange for Pakistan, supporting the country’s external account, fueling economic activity, and supplementing household incomes. A breakdown of the data shows that Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances, with overseas Pakistanis sending $751 million in September, up 2% from August and 10% higher than the same month last year. Inflows from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) rose 7% year-on-year to $677 million. Remittances from the United Kingdom totaled $455 million in September, a 2% decrease from August but 7% higher than a year earlier. Inflows from the United States stood at $269 million, reflecting a 3% year-on-year decline. Meanwhile, remittances from European Union countries reached $424 million for the month.
