Sapphire Textile Mills Limited has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Sapphire Chemicals (Private) Limited, will establish a new soda ash manufacturing facility with a capacity of 220,000 tons per annum.
The project, which will use local raw materials, is expected to be completed by the end of 2027 and is anticipated to deliver strong returns.
According to a notice sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the company has finalized contracts with both the plant and machinery supplier and the civil works contractor. Construction is expected to take approximately two years.
The financial close for the project is in its final stages, with project financing terms agreed upon with a consortium of banks. The board of directors approved the required equity contribution and sponsors’ support documents at a meeting held on October 29, 2025.
In a parallel move, Sapphire Textile Mills is focusing on integrating and streamlining its spinning capacity with its value-added business segment. As part of this strategy, the company plans to discontinue spinning operations for old and uneconomic spindles that no longer fit its value-added business model. This step is aimed at deploying resources more efficiently to support the company’s sustainable growth.
The company emphasized that these decisions are part of its ongoing efforts to optimize operations and enhance long-term value for shareholders.
