The United States has suspended all foreign aid to Pakistan for three months.
The US State Department recently directed diplomatic missions to halt foreign aid programs temporarily including those for Ukraine, Taiwan, Jordan, and Pakistan. The suspension applies to all ongoing aid programs in Pakistan.
Key projects impacted include the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation, five energy sector initiatives, and four economic growth-related programs. Also, aid has been stopped for five agricultural development projects, four education initiatives, four health projects, and 11 governance-related programs. Funding for democracy, human rights, and governance projects has also been halted.
The suspension follows an executive order signed by President Trump after his second-term inauguration on January 20.
