91% Pakistanis Didn’t Shop Online in First Half of 2025: Survey
A nationwide Gallup & Gilani Pakistan survey shows extremely low participation in online shopping, with 91 percent of respondents reporting no online purchases over the past six months. Among the 8 percent who shopped online, 60 percent relied on cash on delivery, while clothing dominated purchases at 30 percent, followed by watches. The survey also mapped social preferences, revealing that 49 percent of Pakistanis would choose to spend a day with a religious leader or intellectual if given the opportunity. Only 9 percent preferred a politician and 7 percent an athlete. On relationship values, 34 percent identified trust and tolerance as the most important factors, followed by love at 24 percent and giving time at 10 percent. When asked how they would spend a day without internet and cable TV, half said they would engage in worship, 19 percent would talk to friends and family, and 7 percent would simply wait for services to return. Online shopping patterns among the small group of buyers showed 52 percent used websites, 16 percent used local online stores, 5 percent used Amazon, and 3 percent used AliExpress. Payment methods remained heavily skewed toward cash on delivery at 60 percent, compared to 15 percent via Easypaisa and 7 percent through credit or debit cards.
