ECC to Decide on Releasing Money For PIA Holding Company Tomorrow

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet is scheduled to meet on December 9, 2025, according to an official agenda notice seen by ProPakistani. The Defence Division is expected to ask for the release of the budgetary allocation tomorrow for PIA Holding Company Limited (PIAHCL). The meeting will hold contract talks for purchasing electricity from the Power Division. Meanwhile, the Petroleum Division will discuss the circular debt management plan for FY2025-26. The IT and Telecom Division will present a request for a technical supplementary grant for Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA) of Rs. 1.28 billion for the implementation of the Prime Minister’s AI initiatives during the current financial year (2025-26). Two requests for implementation of the Lahore High Court in petition ‘Ghani Versus Federation of Pakistan’, restrictions on the import of chloroform, and amendments in procedure for import of vehicles under the personal baggage, transfer of residence and gift schemes will be presented. On the request of the Interior and Narcotics Division, the federal government will release/surrender funds under notified demand development expenditure of cabinet division during FY26. The federal government will allocate funds amounting to Rs. 5,000,000,000 on account of Housing Sector Subsidy through technical supplementary grant (TSG). The National Food Security & Research Division will set forth a proposal for the winding up of PASSCO and the establishment of a special purpose vehicle (SPV) – wheat stock management company (WSMC), public limited. The ECC typically reviews summaries from various ministries on energy pricing, import approvals, supplementary grants, and policy adjustments tied to ongoing IMF commitments. Officials familiar with the process expect the upcoming session to cover routine approvals as well as potential interventions related to inflation control and strategic stock management.
