FoodAg 2025 Draws Strong International Interest as B2B Deals Hit $615 Million
The 3rd FoodAg 2025 exhibition, organized by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), continued to attract robust international attention on its second day at Expo Centre Karachi, with business-to-business deals reaching $615 million across key agro-food sectors. This year’s event features 372 Pakistani exporters representing more than 23 agro-food sectors, while over 850 international buyers from 80 countries, including major global brands, are in attendance. The exhibition has become a major platform for showcasing Pakistan’s agricultural and food products to the world. TDAP Chief Executive Faiz Ahmad and Secretary Sheryar Taj met with delegations from Russia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Kuwait, Hong Kong, and Kazakhstan to explore trade collaboration and sectoral cooperation. Over the first two days, more than 4,600 B2B meetings have taken place, resulting in significant business deals in rice, processed food, seafood, confectionery, meat, cereals, and oilseeds. Notably, Pakistani and Chinese companies concluded export contracts in the seafood sector. The event also hosted sessions on meeting international sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) requirements, with input from regulatory authorities such as the Department of Plant Protection, Animal Quarantine Department, Ministry of National Food Security, Marine Fisheries Department, Pakistan Halal Authority, and the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority. Industry professionals and exporters attended sessions on opportunities in the olive value chain, optimizing the meat supply chain for Malaysia, logistics challenges, export credit facilities, and export competitiveness in fisheries and aquaculture. A series of MOUs and export contracts were signed with international partners for products including sesame, rice, meat, bakery items, salt, corn, and other food and agricultural goods. Key markets involved in these agreements include Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, China, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Iran, and South Korea. Among the highlights was an MOU for the export of heat-treated meat to China. The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and various trade associations facilitated negotiations and discussions with delegations from Scotland, Vietnam, Italy, the UK, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mauritius, Argentina, Peru, Chile, and Malaysia. TDAP also coordinated visits for international delegations to local businesses and industry sites, further strengthening trade ties and market opportunities.
