The federal government on Monday auctioned 405 kanals of land belonging to Ali Riaz Malik, son of property tycoon Malik Riaz, as part of efforts to recover funds in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust case.
Ali Riaz Malik, one of the absconders in the case, had his agricultural land in Mohra Noor sold for Rs. 3.42 million per kanal during an auction held at the Patwar office in Bhara Kahu.
The auction was conducted under the supervision of an official committee, with Assistant Commissioner Secretariat Uzair Ali overseeing the process. The land, measuring 405 kanals and three marlas, attracted bidders, unlike the property of another absconder in the case, Farhat Shehzadi, also known as Farah Gogi. Her land, located in the same revenue estate of Mohra Noor in the Bani Gala area, failed to draw any interest and remained unsold.
Despite repeated inquiries, the identity of the successful bidder for Ali Riaz Malik’s land remains unknown. Government officials involved in the process were unable to confirm the buyer’s name.
The auction is part of a broader effort by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to recover unpaid amounts linked to the Al-Qadir Trust case. Recently, NAB conducted a public auction of six commercial properties associated with Malik Riaz and Bahria Town.
Of these, three properties were successfully sold: Rubaish Marquee fetched Rs. 508 million, while Corporate Office-I and Corporate Office-II received conditional bids of Rs. 876 million and Rs. 881.5 million, respectively. The remaining properties, located in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, failed to attract buyers.
