Govt to Stop Pensioners From Getting Rehired
The federal government has initiated steps to advance pension reforms in like with conditions set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank, sources told ProPakistani. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed all field offices to submit detailed records of retired employees who were rehired in government service. According to sources, the FBR has sought the complete data of all employees from grades 1 to 16 who were appointed again after retirement, whether on a regular or contractual basis. The directive requires submission of this information by May 26. The data must include the date of retirement, the period of reemployment, and all salary and pension-related details. The move aims to assess financial overlaps and curb the dual benefit of receiving both pension and salary simultaneously. Sources further revealed that under proposed reforms, individuals reemployed after the age of 60 may soon be required to choose between receiving a pension or a salary from their new government job.
