Pakistan Issues Tender to Supply 100,000 Tons of Rice to Bangladesh
The Trading Corporation of Pakistan has issued an international tender to purchase 100,000 metric tons of long-grain white rice for supply to Bangladesh, Reuters reported. Bids must be submitted by November 28 and remain valid for 21 working days. The selected supplier will be required to make the rice available for shipment within 45 days of the contract award. Bangladesh issued another rice import tender on Monday, adding to a series of tenders in recent weeks aimed at stabilising domestic prices. Traders said Pakistan’s tender may open the door for Pakistani rice to enter Bangladesh’s import mix, though market expectations suggest that some of Bangladesh’s recent purchases will likely be supplied with Indian-origin rice.
