Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a wide-ranging crackdown against sugar hoarders and speculators to curb the artificial increase in sugar prices, official sources told ProPakistani.
Full powers have been delegated to key institutions, including the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA),the Intelligence Bureau (IB), the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and the State Bank of Pakistan, to take action against elements involved in hoarding, price manipulation, and cartelization.
The prime minister has directed all relevant authorities to initiate indiscriminate legal proceedings, including raids and arrests, against those responsible for creating artificial shortages and inflating prices.
Sources added that the crackdown will begin immediately, with large-scale enforcement actions expected in the coming days as agencies intensify their operations nationwide.
