Punjab’s 2025-26 budget, presented on June 17, shows notable increases in funding for top government offices. The Chief Minister’s Office budget rose by Rs. 230 million to Rs. 1.46 billion.
The Governor House allocation jumped from Rs. 161 million to Rs. 1.537 billion, while the budget for provincial ministers’ offices surged 204%, from Rs. 350 million to Rs. 1 billion.
Other increases include a 47% rise in the Punjab Assembly budget, from Rs. 5.0172 billion to Rs. 7.38 billion, and an additional Rs. 28.1 million for 41 commissioner offices. The Chief Minister’s Inspection Team budget grew by 26% to Rs. 212.4 million.
These figures are part of a Rs. 5 trillion-plus provincial budget, which also includes a 10% salary hike for government employees. The focus on administrative spending has triggered public debate over resource allocation.
