Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (PSX: OGDC) is the favorite stock held by mutual funds in Pakistan with 85 mutual funds holding the stock. According to a report by brokerage house Arif Habib Limited (AHL), 85 funds are collectively holding 20.0 percent of OGDC’s free float. In second place is Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PSX: PPL), with 72 funds invested with 17.2 percent of its free float owned by funds. Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSX: PSO) secures third place with 68 funds holding the stock, representing 32.4 percent of its free float. AHL noted that the skewed concentration in energy sector giants highlights the institutional preference for large-cap, high-liquidity, and dividend-paying stocks. Furthermore, the following companies also appeared in the top 10 holdings across multiple funds, indicating diversification into mid and small-cap names: KTML (8 funds), GLAXO (7 funds), TGL (6 funds), GAL (3 funds), GHNI (3 funds), ELSM (2 funds), HUMNL (2 funds), NATF (2 funds), PSX (2 funds), SRVI (2 funds), TPLT (2 funds), BFAGRO (2 funds), and FLYNG (1 funds). The report further highlighted that as of June 25, equity mutual funds’ AUMS stood at 12 percent of the total industry AUMS, as compared to 10.7 percent as of May 25. Within the equity segment, National Investment Trust Limited (NIT) retains its dominance with the largest exposure, followed by Al Meezan Investment Management Limited and NBP Fund Management Limited (NAFA), rounding out the top three in terms of equity AUM concentration.
