Bitcoin Shoots Above $60,000 After Donald Trump Survives Assassination Attempt

The price of Bitcoin soared past $60,000 per coin in the past few hours following a shooting attempt at former President Donald Trump, who is expected to be the Republican nominee for the 2024 US elections. During a campaign rally, Trump was attacked but survived and was escorted to safety after the attack. According to CoinGecko, Bitcoin surged from $58,337 to $60,224 within a few hours of the news, marking the highest price in the past week. But gains in Bitcoin pale in comparison to Trump-inspired meme coins. TREMP saw the most significant increase, jumping 71 percent in 24 hours to $0.66. TRUMP rose by 39 percent, and MAGA increased by 33 percent. Trump has emerged as a strong supporter of cryptocurrency and distinguished himself from his opponent in the upcoming election, current President Joe Biden. Following his survival of the assassination attempt, some crypto investors and bettors believe Trump’s campaign will gain momentum in the coming months. They also anticipate that a Trump victory would lead to more favorable regulatory conditions for the crypto industry compared to another term under Biden.
