The Capital Development Authority has approved a citywide rehabilitation plan that will upgrade every sector of Islamabad, with the authority committing to uniform road repairs, streetlight restoration and drainage improvements across the capital.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, where officials reviewed the condition of civic infrastructure and discussed detailed surveys already completed for roads, streets and commercial centers.
The engineering wing has also finalized preliminary cost estimates for older sectors.
Under the plan, all sectors will receive the same level of road carpeting, patchwork and reconstruction. Existing footpaths will be repaired and new ones added where required.
The CDA also aims to restore malfunctioning streetlights and poles and install new lighting where needed to improve public safety and visibility.
Commercial hubs, including Super Market, Jinnah Super, Aabpara, Karachi Company and the Blue Area, will be upgraded as well. The CDA chairman directed that traders and business associations be consulted as repair work moves forward to minimize disruption for commercial activity.
The rehabilitation program also includes new signage, lane marking and rubber speed breakers. Upgrades to sewerage and drainage networks, including manholes and curb stones, are among the largest components of the project.
The chairman stressed that experienced architects must be brought in for beautification plans to ensure the upgrades enhance Islamabad’s overall environment.
Chairman Randhawa instructed officials to utilize internal resources and procure modern machinery to execute the plan efficiently. He said the initiative aims not only to improve civic services but to restore Islamabad’s aesthetic appeal through high-quality development work.
