CDA Finally Starts Handing Over 8,600 Plots in This Sector of Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has commenced the long-awaited process of handing over developed plots to owners in Sector I-15 of Islamabad. The formal ceremony was held at Jinnah Convention Centre, chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, with DG NAB Rawalpindi/Islamabad Waqar Ahmed Chauhan attending as the chief guest. The event was also attended by CDA Board Members, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, NAB officials, and hundreds of plot owners. According to CDA, the authority has initiated the handover process for more than 8,600 developed plots out of a total of 10,200 plots in Sector I-15, valued at over Rs. 17 billion. During Thursday’s event, more than 200 allottees received possession of their plots. The sector was originally designed to facilitate low-income citizens, and the completion of its development marks a significant milestone after two decades of delays. CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that the development work in the long-pending I-15 Sector has been completed, and the formal possession process has begun. He added that under the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, addressing Islamabad’s housing needs remains among the CDA’s top priorities. The chairman appreciated NAB’s assistance in overcoming the obstacles that delayed progress in the sector. According to DG NAB Waqar Ahmed Chauhan, the coordination between NAB and CDA played a vital role in ensuring transparency and protecting the rights of allottees. He said that after a thorough verification process, possession letters have been issued to rightful owners, adding that the collaboration between the two institutions will continue to promote integrity and accountability in Islamabad’s housing sector. DG NAB also announced the introduction of a new system to issue allotment letters with barcodes to prevent forgery, along with a proposal to make escrow accounts mandatory for housing societies to ensure that collected funds are used only for development activities. Plot owners expressed gratitude to the CDA leadership for fulfilling their long-awaited rights and said that the initiative would not only address their housing issues but also contribute to the overall development of the capital city. The CDA chairman added that similar efforts are underway to expedite development and possession in other pending sectors, including C-14, reaffirming the authority’s commitment to meeting Islamabad’s residential and infrastructure needs through large-scale urban development projects.
