CDA Officers Accused of Illegal Plot Transfers Using Fake Power of Attorney
A major land scam has surfaced in Islamabad’s Sector D-13, where five residential plots were allegedly transferred using a forged power of attorney in collusion with officers of the Capital Development Authority (CDA). The fraud came to light after the original female owner of the plots approached the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle to report the unauthorized transfer of her property. According to official documents, a resident of Rahim Yar Khan submitted fake ownership documents with the alleged support of several CDA officials to fraudulently transfer ownership of five plots in Sector D-13/4. Despite the forged documents, CDA officials failed to verify the legitimacy and proceeded with the ownership transfer process, effectively enabling the land grab. Following a preliminary inquiry, the FIA has registered a formal case against three officials, including former CDA Director of Land Fareeduddin, Assistant Director Inayatullah, and Dealing Assistant Muhammad Latif. The investigation has since widened to include all recent plot transfers in Sector D-13, with the potential for more arrests in the coming days. Sources within the FIA suggest that additional suspects may be identified as the investigation deepens. These may include other CDA personnel, private individuals, and property agents who may have facilitated or benefited from similar fraudulent transfers. Officials have confirmed that the Anti-Corruption Circle is reviewing related transactions in the sector for irregularities. This revelation comes at a time when the federal government has established a special committee to investigate illegal land occupation and fraudulent transfers in the capital. The move, announced by the Prime Minister earlier this week, aims to crack down on land mafias and restore transparency to Islamabad’s property sector. The committee will also examine the role of public officials in enabling such illegal activities.
