Cement Sales Rise by 10.33% in August 2025
According to data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), local cement dispatches by the industry during August 2025 stood at 3.097 million tons, compared to 2.807 million tons in August 2024, reflecting a year-on-year (YoY) increase of 10.33%. Export dispatches also rose by 22.13%, with volumes increasing from 613,857 tons in August 2024 to 749,723 tons in August 2025. However, the figures for July 2025 were significantly better, with the industry witnessing an 18.61% domestic growth and an 84% jump in exports compared to July 2024. Total cement dispatches during August 2025 reached 3.846 million tons, up 12.45% from 3.421 million tons in the same month last fiscal year. In August 2025, North-based cement mills dispatched 2.795 million tons, an 8.10% increase compared to 2.585 million tons in August 2024. South-based mills dispatched 1.05 million tons, a 25.93% increase from 0.835 million tons in August 2024. Domestic dispatches by North-based mills in August 2025 totaled 2.586 million tons, an 8.64% increase from 2.380 million tons in August 2024. South-based mills dispatched 510,758 tons locally, a 19.81% increase from 426,289 tons in August 2024. Exports from North-based mills saw a marginal increase of 1.84%, rising from 204,901 tons in August 2024 to 208,669 tons in August 2025. In contrast, exports from South-based mills showed a robust increase of 32.30%, climbing to 541,054 tons in August 2025 from 408,956 tons in the same month last year. During the first two months of the current fiscal year (July-August 2025), total cement dispatches (domestic and exports) reached 7.847 million tons, a 20.88% increase from 6.492 million tons in the same period last fiscal year. Domestic dispatches during this period rose by 14.25% to 6.090 million tons, compared to 5.331 million tons in the same period last year. Export dispatches also saw a significant increase of 51.29%, with volumes rising to 1.757 million tons from 1.161 million tons in the same period last year. North-based mills dispatched 5.004 million tons domestically during the first two months of FY26, a 10.36% increase from 4.535 million tons in July-August 2024. Exports from North-based mills increased by 44.99% to 440,654 tons, compared to 303,921 tons in the same period last year. Total dispatches by North-based mills rose by 12.53% to 5.445 million tons, up from 4.839 million tons in the same period last year. South-based mills dispatched 1.086 million tons domestically during July–August 2025, a 36.46% increase from 0.796 million tons in the same period last year. Exports from South-based mills surged by 53.53% to 1.316 million tons, compared to 0.857 million tons in the same period last year. Total dispatches by South-based mills increased by 45.31% to 2.402 million tons, up from 1.653 million tons in the same period last year. A spokesman for APCMA highlighted the challenges posed by excessive rains and floods, which have severely impacted the population. He urged the government to reduce taxes on cement to lower the cost of rehabilitation in affected areas.
