Cement Sales Rise by 15% in October 2025

Local cement dispatches in Pakistan surged 15.17% year-on-year in October 2025, reaching 3.926 million tons compared to 3.409 million tons in the same month last year, according to data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA). Total cement dispatches for October 2025 stood at 4.754 million tons, reflecting a modest 5.87% increase from 4.490 million tons in October 2024. The growth was driven by strong domestic demand, even as export volumes continued to slide. Export dispatches saw a steep decline of 23.44% year-on-year, with volumes falling from 1.081 million tons in October 2024 to just 0.827 million tons in October 2025. The APCMA warned that if the export slump persists, it could undermine hopes for the sector’s revival and urged the government to introduce export-friendly measures to boost competitiveness in foreign markets. Regionally, North-based cement mills dispatched 3.525 million tons in October 2025, up 15.03% from 3.064 million tons a year earlier. South-based mills, however, saw a 13.81% drop, dispatching 1.23 million tons compared to 1.425 million tons in October 2024. Exports from North-based mills dropped by 27.79% to 146,478 tons, while South-based mills saw exports fall by 22.43% to 680,903 tons. For the first four months of the current fiscal year, total dispatches by North-based mills rose 18.15% to 12.547 million tons, while South-based mills saw an 8.92% increase to 4.718 million tons. An APCMA spokesperson expressed concern over the two-month decline in exports and called on the government to take urgent steps to make the sector more competitive internationally. “If the decline continues, it may dent hopes of the cement sector’s revival,” the spokesperson said.
