Seed cotton (phutti) equivalent to over 5.4 million bales has reached ginning factories across Pakistan till December 31, 2024, registering a decrease of 33 percent compared to the corresponding period of last year.
According to the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA), issued to media on Friday, 5.452 million bales have undergone the ginning process i.e. converted into bales.
According to Arif Habib Limited (AHL), the decrease in cotton arrivals has been attributed to poor farmer economics and the delayed planting of the cotton crop.
Cotton arrivals in Punjab were recorded at 2.65 million bales, down 35 percent as compared to the corresponding period of last year when arrivals were recorded at 4.079 million bales.
Sindh generated 2.793 million bales, down 32 percent as compared to corresponding period of last year when arrivals were recorded 4.092 million bales.
